Hummingbird 1

I photographed this female Broad-tailed hummingbird getting ready to take drink from a feeder while visiting with some friends in Colorado.  These birds measure under four inches in length and weigh less than a ping-pong ball.  They winter in Mexico but spend their late springs and early summers in the mountain meadows and woodlands in and around Colorado.
